From each operator's own website, checked October 22, 2026. How we compare.
Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park is at Road 3, Km 32.4, Exit 992, in Luquillo. Discover Puerto Rico places it between El Yunque National Forest and the Atlantic, about a 30-minute drive from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, with its own bar and grill and a gift shop. Campo Rico Trail Rides is at 535 Roberto Sánchez Vilella Avenue East in Carolina. It describes its land as 2,200 acres of lagoons, mangroves and limestone hills, and its UTV page calls the ranch 5 minutes from San Juan. It arranges no transport and lists a taxi number only as a suggestion.
Hacienda 8A is at Carretera 31, Km 15.6, in Barrio Boquerón, Las Piedras, inland in the east. Horseback Riding Manatí rides from 616 Barrio Cantito Adentro in Manatí, on the north coast, which Discover Puerto Rico puts about 45 minutes from the airport. Tropical Trail Rides in Isabela, farther west, rides twice a day at 9 am and 3:30 pm but posts no prices, so it is not among the compared operators.
Carabalí's horses walk trails in the foothills of El Yunque and along the Mameyes River; the 2-hour ride adds a 30-minute river stop for a swim, and the 1-hour ride keeps moving. Its 2.5-hour beach ride, from $140, goes to the Mameyes River and onto a beach the page does not name. Carabalí's ATVs, from $80 for 1 or 2 hours, cross creeks on rainforest trails and stop at the Mameyes River for a swim, so the park says to wear a bathing suit underneath.
Campo Rico rides Puerto Rican Paso Fino horses around lagoons and hills with views over the coastal plain, for $70 an hour or $90 for 2 hours, ending near its hilltop Mojito Bar. Its ATV tours cover the same ranch on 4x4 machines with short narrated breaks: $80 for a single rider and $120 for a driver with passenger for 1 hour, $120 and $175 for 2 hours. A 2-hour UTV outing starts at $199 and pony rides for ages 3 to 7 at $20 for 30 minutes.
Horseback Riding Manatí's 2-hour Beach Trail, $99, crosses farm valleys beside the Corozo Forest and a wetland before reaching the beach, with two rest stops. Its 1.5-hour Natural Reserve Trail ($65) follows the same valleys and wetland with one stop, and the 1-hour Agricultural Valley ride is $55. Hacienda 8A in Las Piedras sells a single ride of about an hour for $60, with no route described. Tropical Trail Rides' 2-hour Isabela ride runs along the beach to an almond grove, with a cliff hike or a swim at the turnaround.
Carabalí weighs riders on arrival and turns away anyone over 235 lb (106 kg), counting up to 8 lb of carried items toward the limit. Rainforest rides start at age 3, the beach ride at 8, and under-18s need an adult along, one rider per horse. Every ATV driver and passenger must be 16 or older; drivers show a physical driver's license and passengers proof of age, with 450 lb combined per machine. Arrive 45 minutes early with the physical card used to book and matching ID, since the park refuses digital wallets and photos of cards and requires the payer to be present.
Carabalí's tours run rain or shine, and cancellations with 24 hours' notice are refunded in full; same-day bookings and no-shows are not refunded or rebooked. Pregnant guests, wheelchair users and anyone with recent back, arm, knee, leg or neck injuries are not permitted. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory, with pants or shorts, a T-shirt and a bathing suit underneath. Campo Rico sets its horse limit at 240 lb with no riding double and a minimum age of 8. Its ATV limit is 425 lb, with riders from 12 and drivers from 16 holding a valid license.
Campo Rico holds a Visa or Mastercard as collateral on ATV rides and warns off guests with limited mobility, pregnancy, or cardiac, respiratory, asthma, diabetes or epilepsy conditions. Hacienda 8A takes riders from age 6 up to 230 lb, minors with an adult. Horseback Riding Manatí starts the beach ride at 8 and the Natural Reserve Trail at 6 and runs only Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Neither Campo Rico, Hacienda 8A nor Manatí publishes a cancellation or rain policy.
Carabalí is the only one of the four with a published refund policy and the only one that puts riders in a river. It also has the strictest check-in: 45 minutes early, physical card, matching ID, payer present. Its horseback price is a from-price of $64 with no adult, child or 2-hour rate broken out, and its ATV page does not say whether $80 buys a rider or a machine. Helmets, a riding lesson and a horse matched to weight, height and experience are included.
Campo Rico is the closest to San Juan hotels and the clearest on price. Horseback costs $70 or $90, and private rides $165 for one, $145 each for two and $125 each for three or more. Its 1-hour ATV runs only Friday to Sunday, the 2-hour version daily, and private ATVs ($175 single, $230 double) book by phone. Hacienda 8A lists one $60 ride, no unit, no times. Horseback Riding Manatí is the cheapest way onto a beach at $99. Its start times are fixed, 10 am for the beach and 1 pm or 3 pm for the shorter trails, five days a week.
